PDP - Personal Development Plan

We've now been introduced to a new section of the professional frameworks 2 module. I'm very excited and eager to get started with this module as I feel it's going to be very beneficial for me personally. I'm at a stage with my photography where I'm already earning money through my skills and I have had some great experience in a few areas of photography in a commercial environment which have only increased my drive for success.

The module is all about personal development:

• To develop students understanding of concepts and principles applied within professional design practice
• To engage students in the critical evaluation of their own work via structured approaches to reflective practice
• To introduce business, enterprise and employability issues within the context of personal development and career planning
• To develop students ability to select appropriate and effective photographic communication techniques and presentation to a basic professional standard

Rationale:

Building upon the introduction of PDP and professional practice skills in level 1, this module further aims to develop skills and critical understanding of the concepts applied within a professional photographic delivery context. Engaging students in the evaluation of methodologies and introducing notions of business, enterprise and employability within the programme of study. Critical evaluation is developed via reflective practice of students own project work, where the selection of appropriate and effective photographic communication methods to a basic professional standard is assessed.

On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
 • Demonstrate an understanding of professional photo practice and the issues affecting the development of business and enterprise environments
• Engage in structured reflective practice and the critical evaluation of their own work
• Engage in the identification of personal and career aspirations, with regard for their own limitations in knowledge and skills
• Demonstrate the application of appropriate and effective communication techniques via the compilation of a portfolio of work to a basic professional standard

• Identify local and national resources related to photography

On completion of this module students will have had the opportunity to:
• Engage in professional practice dialogue, presenting structured and reasoned ideas behind the development and/or delivery of digital photographic portfolios
• Apply knowledge to a range of market opportunities across the photographic sector
• Identify opportunities for self-directed practice
• Understand how to professionally approach and deliver independent projects
• Demonstrate an ability to identify and make use of professional networks

• Evaluate the broad field of photographic communication and/or related visual art practices in relation to market opportunities
