Elevator Pitch

DEVELOPING AN ELEVATOR PITCH

Having a strong brand means knowing what you and your products or services stand for and being able to communicate that effectively to your customers.
You will have plenty of opportunity to talk about your business but often very little time to get across your message and ‘win’ a customer. Imagine you have 60 seconds in an elevator with a potential customer, what would you say?
An elevator pitch is a useful marketing tool to use when talking about your business. It is a short and succinct way of communicating what your business does, who it is for and why it is different to your competitors. It must tell your customers what they should expect from your business - a clear and simple message is critical.

Until todays session I was unsure about what an elevator pitch or what the benefits could be but I'm now a believer. It makes sense to think how many times you meet someone and they ask what you do and you either can't get it across or don't make it sound interesting enough. Writing an elevator pitch seems like the perfect way to sell myself to potential clients and also display confidence in my work.
  • Establish your credibility.
  • Your pitch needs to introduce your idea, not close the deal.
  • Don't be afraid to show off a bit!
  • Have multiple versions prepared.
  • Capture your elevator pitch on video for your blog/website?
  • Identify your goal
  • Explain what you do
  • What is your story?
  • Communicate your USP
  • Engage with a question
  • Put it all together

My Elevator Pitch:

My name is Matt Smith, owner and photographer at Shoot The Future. I am a Manchester based photographer working heavily in sports and events. Have you put time and money into organising an event? Do you want to capture the spirit and feel of the day? My goal is to create exciting images that best capture the atmosphere of events and use my creative flare and extensive technical knowledge to ensure the events I cover are captured perfectly. Recent clients include NASS Festival, SportFive (Premier League) and TateStudio.
