As highlighted in my personal development plan I don't feel I've had enough studio time this year and so I decided to plan a shoot in order to further my skills and portfolio.
It was a simple shoot organised with a singer songwriter and a fellow photographer off the course. We booked the studio without a specific idea in mind, Sarah just wanted some shots she could use in promotional material and so we planned to just see what happened on the day.
The shoot went really well. We only had 2 hours which isn't that much time when you factor in setting up and planning of shots. I could have planned the shots before to save time but since it was such a last minute shoot there just wasn't time.
Sarah was really happy with the shots, she wanted a dark background so that the images would work well on leaflets, posters etc and so I chose to use some rim lighting to pick her out from the dark background. This worked out really well and I'm glad I experimented with this setup.
Overall it was a positive experience and has pushed me to spend more time in the studio.
